In the mood for some HARP Events?

Dear readers,

our project has reached its second half, and although we are currently in the midst of data collection and analysis, we are also offering a range of interesting events for the public.

The first of these will take place as early as 21 May 2026. It is a webinar entitled “Why knowledge alone is not enough: Supporting climate change education from the perspective of psychology”, prepared by psychologists Kateřina Hašková and Petr Zámečník from Masaryk University. In the first part of the webinar, the psychological and behavioural foundations of climate change education will be introduced. The second part will focus on applied psychological disciplines, particularly school and vocational psychology. The webinar will be held in English.

Another event for the public is a summer school for teachers, organised by HARP in cooperation with the non-profit organisation Lipka. Among other topics, Lipka focuses on entrepreneurship, which aligns well with the action competences explored in our research. The summer school will take place from 17 to 21 August 2026 in the beautiful setting of Kadlcův mlýn in Brno. Thanks to project co-funding, we are able to offer participation in this five-day “all-inclusive” summer school for CZK 4,200. The entire event will be held in Czech.

In winter, we are also preparing a national conference for teachers, building on previous editions of the Educating (ourselves) for the climate conference organised by the non-profit organisation Sever. The conference will take place in Prague on 2 December 2026 at Kampus Hybernská. The programme is still being developed, but we can already promise two very interesting guest speakers. The first is sociologist Vojtěch Pecka, author of the book The Factory of Lies and analyst in the climate team at the Association for International Affairs (AMO), who specialises in the sociology of climate change denial. We have also confirmed the participation of Daniel Kortus, a scientist, science communicator and climate communication specialist, and founder of Klimatomluva. The entire event will be held in Czech. For registration, please follow our website and social media channels.

Wherever you decide to join us, we will be happy to see you.

Here’s what we have prepared for you

Webinar "Why knowledge alone is not enough: Supporting climate change education from the perspective of psychology"

Researchers, students and practitioners interested in climate change education are invited to the following webinar organized by the University of Vienna. In the first part, the psychological and behavioural foundations of climate change education are introduced, showing that human decision-making is shaped not only by rational information processing but also by identity, emotion, cognitive biases, and social norms. The webinar’s second part is based on the applied psychological disciplines, mostly school and vocational psychology. Through this angle we explore relevant issues for climate change education demonstrated on interactive activities for participants.

The Summer School for teachers will offer a five-day reset packed with inspiration

Summer School of action competences is an experiential five-day program designed to recharge your energy and spark new ideas. During the program, you will meet students, inspiring teachers, young people who are not afraid to take initiative, and other fascinating personalities from the field of entrepreneurship education. You will also have the chance to try out low-threshold activities that can be easily integrated into your teaching. The program provides space for group sharing as well as self-reflection. In short, the summer school will energize your body and fill your mind with ideas. The goal of the event is not only to provide you with tips on concrete methods and activities, but also to support and strengthen your motivation for change. You will explore topics such as action competences, creativity, working with ideas and visions, design thinking, sustainable thinking, and personal development.

The summer school is intended for all teachers of upper primary and secondary/vocational schools across the Czech Republic who are interested in entrepreneurship. After completing the program, you will know how to work with ideas, teach creatively, and guide your students toward entrepreneurial thinking. If you have already attended one of our seminars or conferences, the Summer School is an excellent way to deepen and build on your experience.

The summer school will take place in Brno from 17th to 21st of August. For more information about the Summer School, including registration details, please visit the Lipka website.
