HARP at ERIDOB 2026: Sharing Research on Climate Change Education in Ljubljana
From the 24th to 28th of August, our HARP team participated in the ERIDOB2026, the 15th conference of European Researchers in Didactics of Biology in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Under the theme “Biology education paving the way for our common future”, more than 300 scholars in the field of biology education came together to present their research, connect and discuss current developments such as global sustainability challenges, the role of science and trust in science.
Notably, most scientific contributions were associated to the strand “Sustainability Education (including Environmental and Health Education)”, highlighting the relevance of biology education research to in responding to climate change or the biodiversity crisis. Here, our HARP team contributed three works related to our HARP research teams Success Stories, Universities and Drivers and Barriers: Wanda Sass from Utrecht University gave an oral presentation about the study “Supporting Coping Strategies through Emotion-sensitive Climate Change Education”, while Linda Hämmerle from the UNIVIE team presented initial outcomes of a document analysis on “Climate Change Education in Austria's Teacher Education for Secondary Schools”. Veronika Winter presented a scientific poster about “Pre-service biology teachers’ beliefs, emotions and intention to implement climate change education”. The three presentations were well attended and sparked interesting discussions with researchers working in similar directions.
All in all, ERIDOB2026 was a great opportunity to share our work in HARP with the biology education research community!
